HOW PFM WORKS

Safety and compliance isn’t a report.
At truck, it’s about things a month.

Your ELD shows you what happened. Someone still has to decide what happens next, do it, follow it to the end, and keep the proof. Every day, including the days you’re on the road, sick, or on vacation.

YOU’VE HAD THIS FRIDAY

It’s 4:45 on a Friday. A driver’s medical card expires tomorrow. A broker wants a certificate of insurance within the hour. And a $3,200 payment is stuck because a bill of lading came back unsigned.

PFM was started by a former carrier owner who did all of this firsthand, at night, after the trucks were parked.

What the job adds up to, for your fleet

Move the slider to your fleet size. This is the work that has to be done right, on time, every month, whether or not anyone has time for it.

truck
ABOUT, DONE BY HAND hours a month

That’s of a full-time job, and it takes four different kinds of expertise. Miss one piece and it shows up later: at a roadside inspection, in an audit, on a tax bill, or in a payment that doesn’t come.

Estimates, not measurements: one driver per truck, 22 working days a month, and the time each task takes by hand (for example, 4 to 5 minutes to check a fuel receipt against where the truck was, and 10 to 15 minutes to enter a load, check its paperwork and send it to factoring). Crashes are not counted, because no two are alike.

Can you answer these without looking them up?

Doing the work is half of it. Knowing the rule is the other half. These come up every week at a fleet your size.

It’s rarely the big thing. It’s the small thing nobody caught.

Most carriers don’t get in trouble for one dramatic event. They get in trouble for something small that slipped while they were busy running freight. We’d rather coach a driver in week one than explain a problem in month six.

The math

HIRING THESE FOUR ROLES IN-HOUSE About $465,000 a year1 $325,650 in salaries at national median pay, plus benefits, which make up about 30% of what an employer spends on each worker. Then months to hire and train, and gaps when someone is sick or on vacation.
PRIME FLEET MANAGEMENT AT TRUCK2
Core Compliance, three specialists a year a month
Core + Operations, all four a year a month
That’s less than hiring the same team.
DOING IT YOURSELF hours a month at truck. That’s of a full-time job (about 173 hours a month), if you already know every rule. Time you’re not selling, dispatching, or home.

How you’ll know it’s done

A monthly report with an action planWhat was found, what was done, and what you agreed to, each item dated. Next month shows whether it got done.
A tracker for every projectEvery IFTA return, renewal, new driver and new truck shows where it stands and the one thing it’s waiting on.
Your drivers hear from you, not usMessages and coaching go out in your company’s name, so your drivers see a company that runs a tight ship.
Proof, already written downEvery action is on the record: who did what, and when. When an auditor, insurer or attorney asks how you know, the answer is already there.
COMINGYour own client portalWe’re building it now on the same system our team runs your account on. You’ll see every project, answer questions, and upload documents yourself.
